Working alongside volunteers, government agencies, environmental organizations, universities, and private industry, the Board of Directors of Marine Cleanup Initiative (MCI) helps guide MCI’s long-term vision while supporting innovative environmental restoration and conservation projects.
Current Leadership
Arnold (Arnie) Stirzinger – President & Operations Director
Arnie Stirzinger serves as President of Marine Cleanup Initiative and has over 30 years of executive, entrepreneurial, and management experience. He is committed to continuing the vision established by Captain Don Voss of protecting the Treasure Coast’s waterways through environmental restoration, innovation, and community partnerships. His background spans business development, management, broadcasting, and environmental technologies.
Susan Howells – Secretary
Susan Howells oversees organizational administration, operations, and logistics. Since joining MCI in 2021, she has helped coordinate projects, volunteers, partnerships, and day-to-day operations. Her international background and organizational leadership provide valuable support to the nonprofit’s growing environmental initiatives.
Christopher Shelli – Treasurer
As Treasurer, Christopher Shelli is responsible for financial oversight, budgeting, and ensuring sound fiscal management in support of MCI’s nonprofit mission. He helps maintain accountability and transparency in the organization’s financial operations.
Greg Welling – Director
Greg Welling brings experience in education, sustainable agriculture, community outreach, and business development. As a board member, he supports MCI’s commitment to clean water, environmental stewardship, and public engagement while helping strengthen relationships throughout the Treasure Coast community.
Together, the Board of Directors provides the leadership that allows Marine Cleanup Initiative to continue advancing innovative environmental solutions while engaging volunteers, government agencies, educational institutions, and community partners in protecting Florida’s waterways.
